The Young Lions All-Stars
Gilbert Castellanos, San Diego's own virtuoso trumpeter, world class musician and respected educator, features up-and-coming young jazz musicians from the Southern California region every week in his Young Lions Series at Panama 66 at the San Diego Museum of Art. He is dedicated to raising up the next generation of jazz in America's Finest City, providing them with a public platform to deepen their musical development and showmanship! Since the series' inception in 2014, over 200 musicians from the region’s most outstanding middle and high school jazz programs have been highlighted including: The San Diego School of Creative and Performing Arts, Mission Bay High School Preservationists, etc. The Young Lions All-Stars are the "best of the best," with many having attended special youth jazz music programs at the Berklee School of Music, Jazz at Lincoln Center NYC, Monterey Jazz Festival, UCSD Jazz Camp and more!
