  • Description

Join us for a special conversation with professional vocalist Greg Walker, whose career includes working with Santana, Herbie Hancock, Kenny G., Jeff Lorber, Rodney Franklin, and Keiko Matsui.

Greg Walker has devoted years of hard work to developing musical integrity and fulfilling his personal artistic goals. Not content to merely sing songs, he is driven to deliver his message, to transmit his emotions, and to transcend stylistic boundaries. One critic observed, "Walker breaks down musical walls." And indeed he does.

Greg's classic vocals speak straight to the soul. In the words of Carlos Santana, Greg Walker's music is a wonderful combination of street and church music; 'street' being raw, sexy, warm and naked; 'church' being spiritual, inspirational, soulful and sincere." His magical ability to interpret a song epitomizes his commitment to melodic beauty, lyrical sensitivity, and sheer sensuality. Audiences and record sales around the world attest to his universal appeal.

Inspired by musical masters and song stylists such as Nat "King" Cole, Johnny Hartman, Sarah Vaughn, and Sam Cooke, Greg started singing at the age of nine. These legendary musicians made an indelible impression on Greg's artistry and style, setting high performance standards in quality musical expression.

Early in his career, Greg's special sound led to an invaluable audition with Carlos Santana. His selection as lead vocalist for The Santana Band increased his artistic freedom and gave him international acclaim. Greg added new life to Santana's most popular material, introduced such hits as the unforgettable "Stormy," and demonstrated his songwriting skills as a contributing writer. Touring Europe, Japan, Australia, and the United States, Greg thrilled audiences with his dynamic style and became the focal point of the group's new sound. His talents led Santana into the musical mainstream with three platinum albums; Amigos, Inner Secrets and Moonflower.

Subsequently, Greg became a highly sought-after lead singer for distinguished musicians and recording artists, such as Herbie Hancock, Kenny G., Jeff Lorber, Rodney Franklin, and Keiko Matsui.

Ever versatile, he has performed with Joan Baez, including a concert performance with the Boston Pops Orchestra, which was taped for a T.V. special. Always one who elevates to personal achievement heights, Greg equally divided his energies between touring and recording his first solo album Love You So Good, and simultaneously earning his Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Arts.

Mr. Walker is the recipient of the Los Angeles Music Awards Career Achievement Award.  Equally comfortable with the composition and delivery of Adult Contemporary, Jazz, R&B, Gospel and Rock, his diversity defies limitations. A consummate performer, Greg's connection with and appeal to audiences is undeniable.
